Civil Rights and Public Entity Defense

Our civil rights and public entity defense practice includes the defense of public and private entities and their officials in federal and state trial and appellate courts. Our attorneys regularly defend claims alleging unconstitutional customs, policies, practice, and conduct against public entities. Representative claims include the defense of allegations of discrimination and harassment, retaliation, First Amendment violations including free speech and freedom of religion, election rights, wrongful death claims, excessive force, challenges to the conditions of confinement asserted by prisoners and pre-trial detainees, due process claims, constitutional employment claims, tort claims, litigation involving the Colorado Governmental Immunity Act, and claims pursuant to federal and state statutes. Our civil rights defense team has defended and advised officials with cities, counties, towns, special districts, other municipalities, as well as the State of Colorado.
