Sheryl L. Anderson, MEMBER

Ms. Anderson is a founding Member of Wells, Anderson & Race LLC.  She was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1980 and to the Colorado Bar in 1982. Ms. Anderson’s litigation practice centers on complex contract disputes for insurers and other companies, insurance bad faith claims, arson, and fraud. She has substantial product liability experience and represents many clients on a regional basis. She is now and has been listed in “The Best Lawyers in America” and is now and has been listed as a Super Lawyer. She is named a 2021 Best Lawyers® Lawyer for Personal Injury Litigation Defense. She has been named in the Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers.

Representative Experience
  • Represented international federation in presenting amicus curiae brief to Colorado Supreme Court on adverse impact of protective orders on companies conducting business in Colorado.
  • Obtained summary judgments for automobile insurer in insurance industry-wide litigation barring insurance coverage for additional personal injury protection benefits. Judgments upheld by appellate courts.
  • Co-defense counsel in successful defense of original proceeding in the Colorado Supreme Court resulting in a ruling that the wrongful-death damages cap on non-economic damages applies on a per claim, rather than per defendant, basis.
  • Obtained summary judgment for European product manufacturer sued by Colorado franchisee arising out of franchise termination.
  • Obtained defense verdicts in trials defending insurers in contract and bad faith litigation after trials.
  • Coordinated pre and post-litigation investigations involving serious vehicle and aircraft accidents for product manufacturers.
  • Successful defense of individuals and companies in lawsuits arising out of accidents involving catastrophic injuries and deaths.
  • Successfully prosecuted declaratory judgment actions for insurers claiming an absence of insurance coverage under general liability and property policies.
  • Co-defense counsel in successful defense of product liability claims against recreational vehicle and aviation component parts manufacturers.
  • Advise insurance company underwriters regarding revision language of insurance policies in response to changes in the law.
  • Served as an expert witness on industry standards in lawsuits against insurance companies.
  • For over 25 years, conducted examinations under oath in 1st and 3rd-party liability and property claims for insurers throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
  • Successful representation of insurers in contested coverage disputes under general liability, property and public entity policies.
  • Successfully resolved product liability claims against heavy equipment manufacturer.
  • Faculty member of Trial Academy for International Association of Defense Counsel.
