Steve Baumann was admitted to the
Colorado Bar in October of 2011. He is also admitted to
practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the
Tenth Circuit and the United States District Court for the
District of Colorado.
At the University of Southern California
Law School, he served as a Legal Writing and Advocacy
Fellow, through which he co-taught the first-year legal
writing and advocacy program. He was also a Content Editor
for the Southern California Interdisciplinary Law Journal,
and served as the President and Co-Founder of the USC Law
Chapter of the American Constitution Society. He was
awarded a USC Law Merit Scholarship, as well as the American
Jurisprudence Award for the highest grade in Evidence, Legal
Research, Writing and Advocacy, and Insurance.
He has also served as a judicial extern
for the Honorable Manuel L. Real in the United States
District Court for the Central District of California.
Steve currently volunteers his time with
the University of Denver Law School’s Lawyering Process
program, through which he assists first-year law students in
developing their legal research, writing, and advocacy
skills. He is also involved with the Colorado Campaign for
Inclusive Excellence, as part of Chief United States
District Court Judge Wiley Y. Daniel’s
Dream
Team, which promotes inclusiveness throughout the legal
profession through programs at the high school, university,
and post-graduate levels.
Since joining Wells, Anderson & Race, LLC,
he has concentrated on civil litigation and public entity
defense, including civil rights, employment litigation,
product liability, insurance liability and litigation,
and appellate matters, including drafting the appellant’s
opening brief for an appeal to the United States Court of
Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and a portion of a brief of
amicus curiae in support of a petition for a writ of
certiorari to the Supreme Court of the United States. His insurance practice includes
representation of insurers in complex coverage matters.
